Lionel Messi scored a brace last night and helped Barcelona defeat Tottenham 4-2 in the Champions League but his celebration for the first goal has got everyone surprised.
Now, According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the 31-year-old was sending a clear message to his children – Thiago, Mateo and Ciro.
Messi is said to have dedicated the goal to them as they watched the match at home.
Messi has now scored 105 goals in 127 Champions League appearances.
And he says winning Europe’s elite club competition as part of a treble is in his sights this season.
“The Champions League is the icing on the cake for everyone,” Messi said.
“But to get to that stage you have to be good in the league and the cup, you have to perform well in the league to perform well in the Champions League.
We will put no competition to the side, the Champions League is special but we will fight for the league and the cup.”
