Every week, thousands of fed-up Australians throw out wilted, brown vegetables – even after storing them in the correct section of the fridge.
So to help make life easier and prevent wastage, hundreds of savvy mothers have shared their easy storage tricks that keep their vegetables fresh for up to three weeks.
One woman said that simply storing her vegetables in deep containers of water will help to ‘save hundreds a year’ and keep vegetables fresh for ‘over 2/3 weeks’.
Yes it works for everything. [You] don’t have to cut it up, [it’s] just easier to fit into containers and it’s normal water, just change the water once a week,’ she wrote
One woman recommended that people should change the water every couple of days, otherwise it becomes slimy.
Another said that it works for all kinds of vegetables and also works for herbs.
