Hajiya Aisha Buhari has been appointed by the joint UN programme on HIV And AIDs (UNAIDS) as special ambassador for the elimination of Mother-to- child transmission of HIV in Nigeria and promoting of treatment for children living with HIV in Nigeria.
This was made known by Communications and Outreach, UNSAIDS Nigeria, Mr Charles Martin’s Jjuuko in his statement on Sunday in Abuja.
According to him, Michel Sidibe, Executive Director and under General Secretary of UN is to issue the official appointment to Aisha Buhari.
He further said this appointment was in recognition of her passion in the advocacy for the right of vulnerable women and girls in the country.
Jjuuko said as part of Aisha’s new role is to advocate for increased access to antenatal care, HIV testing for all pregnant women and adequate care
